7A Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

Fast health food restaurants far from UF campus, unable to offer students easy, quick, healthy beneficial food because they're 10-15 minute driving distance away from them. Who: Fast health food restaurants far from UF campus What: Unable to offer students easy, quick, healthy beneficial food Why: Because they're 10-15 minute driving distance away from them Most UF students are always on the go with school and being on campus all day. In order to manage a well timely schedule they need to know how to integrate lunch time. However, UF students want something close walking distance from campus and not a meal that would make the energy levels go down. They need to access quick, affordable, and convenient health restaurants. Testing the who: Are there others who have this need? Or, does everyone in your current 'who' share the need?  It's not a life or death need, but a preferred need. I believe the ones in my current 'who' share the need, but

6A Identifying Opportunities in Economic and Regulatory Trends

1.  I found this economic opportunity from the Washington Post in economics. "Federal government lifts restrictions on higher ethanol blends of gasoline." The Trump administration lifted restrictions on the sale of high ethanol blends of gasoline that the Obama administration pushed for. Farmers have suffered from the trade war with China from this, but also this brought a legal challenge to the oil industry for better ethanol blends of gasoline. The Obama administration put restrictions on this ethanol (E15) because it hurt growers so they limited the demand for corn-based fuel. Apparently this sets a step back for the oil industry because biofuels are its competition. The re-introduction of E15 leads me to believe that there's an opportunity for biofuels. The customer to be most likely with the opportunity would be farmers, gasoline companies, and consumers. I believe this opportunity is smacked in the middle. It can be relatively easy and difficult. Because it depen

5A Identifying Local Opportunities

1. Giant alligator breaks into Florida home by crawling through kitchen window https://www.miamiherald.com/news/state/florida/article231029223.html On a casual Friday morning around 3:30 am, Mary Wishhusen (homeowner) woke up to a loud bang in the kitchen. The homeowner freaked out but decided to go investigate and noticed this intruder wasn't like any other. This intruder was an 11-foot gator (go gators) that broke into her home on Eagles Landing Circle West through her kitchen windows that are low. The homeowner was startled and called the police. Luckily, no one was injured. The problem presented in this story that a 11-foot gator broke into a suburban Florida home by low kitchen windows. Not only is this a problem for the homeowner, but it is also a problem for the rest of the neighborhood. This could've been any one of her neighbors. This could've been people with children, elders, pets, and etc. The gator could've been a greater danger to many others and this

4A Forming An Opportunity Belief

I have a belief that an opportunity exists. University of Florida students need affordable, convenient, close to campus, quick health restaurants. I've always been the type of person trying to balance an easy affordable healthy eating life-style combined with my busy academic schedule. For the days I'd be at the library all day, and don't have the time to meal prep or want to eat fattening food across the street... I get frustrated. Especially that I don't own a car and just walk every where or use my scooter for close places. It's difficult to combine a healthy eating life style when I'm always on the go, making my body feel good, and doesn't take time away from my studying.  The unmet need is not being able to access affordable, convenient, close to campus location, quick health restaurants for students that want to balance their health and academics. The ones that have the need are productive UF students that prioritize a healthy life-style and school.

3A My Entrepreneurship Story

Image
As I sit back on my chair, I try to think about any exposure I've had to entrepreneurship. Besides creating a bunch of inventions using aluminum foil from my packed up lunch in elementary school and watching Silicon Valley documentaries... not that much. However, I realized I have been exposed to entrepreneurship because of my sorority. I hold a position that requires throwing any type of event. Each event requires items (t-shirts, game-day attire, dog tags, sweatpants, etc) that help it succeed. I have to contact specific positions for making t-shirts for my events telling them what I exactly want as the design. I just recently created a new event called Study Hours, which I need to create goodie bags for the girls doing hard work. I've had to place orders for multiple events so that they can succeed and benefit everyone. My position also contains the most chair positions I'm responsible to overlook.   I enrolled in ENT 3003 because it's one of my approved electiv

2A Bug List

20 Things That "Bug" Me 1. Close-minded people Why? People are entitled, don't like change, uneducated, or lack empathy. 2. People that don't turn off their lights when they're not using it Why? They're forgetful, don't realize it costs money and it's bad for the environment. 3. People that don't clean up after themselves Why? They're forgetful, lazy, or entitled. 4. When a problem surfaces, a person accuses instead of asking the other person involved. Why? They don't think about another persons side of the story and believe their own assumptions, and don't understand the their use of how to say something. 5. Wasting water Why? Not aware about the effects of saving water and only use the amount that you need and it costs you more money. 6. Making fun of others in public or private by their characteristics Why? Being entitled, immature, l
