30A Final Reflection

Image
After summarizing all my blog posts for the summer for this ENT 3003 class, my knowledge on entrepreneuship really grew and has gotten better. In the beginning I started with not really knowing what the purpose of each thing was getting me to, but I found it. My high was definently my bug list, because I had so much fun writing that up! So was my reading reflections and create a customer avatar. Those were the most fun for me. I think my low point was my blog post on growing my social capital. Because I remember staring at the screen for a while to do this assignment. I also think cupcakes were difficult at first because I wouldn't finish watching the lectures, but then I realized I need to so my cupcake grades started going up. My moments of dread were to write 160 words for 3 posts in one day when I was so tired or busy. Since I've been abroad my schedule here is completely different because of the time difference. What sticks out to by my most formative experience is figuri

Opportunity My opportunity is to create a business that is located extremely close or on campus healthy, convienent, fast, and affordable for college students. My business will include cold-pressed juice, smoothies, proteins smoothies, Acai bowls, healthy portion sized meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), and healthy small snacks. There are multiple groups that my opportunity focuses on. The people that have the need are health conscious students, Instagram Fitness Influencers, Instagram Food Influencers, gym fanatics, vegan/vegertarian students, on a budget for healthy food students, and people that just like tasting healthy food and want to feel good about themselves. These are the people that have the need and that are potential customers. The nature of the need is to fuel their bodies with healthy food to keep them energized and cleansed. The forces or changes in the environment creating this opportunity is we are having more students coming from the suburbs which is where they

28A Your Exit Strategy

I personally would not like to be an entrepreneur for the rest of my life. Therefore, an exit strategy would be very important if I ever do start up a company. Depending how successful my business becomes or I decide to start a family or something. I probably wouldn't sell my business in the next 5 years for a large return. Because knowing me, I like to be in charge especially if it's my start up. I would only sell my business in the next 5 years for a large return if I can trust the buyer with my business. I'd sell it for a large sum of money probably in my early 40's. Like I said, depending on other factors I would stay with the business for several decades and then retire early. I don't really mind to protect the venture as a family business and pass it down to my children. Because I care more if I select the best person for the job despite if they're related to me or not. I've selected this particular exit strategy because this is the type of exit strat

27A Reading Reflection No.3

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?  The book I have chosen is called "Thinking, Fast, and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman. The general theme of this book is talking about the comparison of emotional and logical thinking. Daniel believed in two systems of thinking every day people have: System 1 and System 2. System 1 is emotional, fast, and impulsive. While System 2 is the opposite; slow, careful, and logical. It then continues with two other parts: Heauristics and Biases, and then Overconfidence. 2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? The book helped me connected with what i was learning in ENT 3003 by the systems of thinking and the overconfidence. 3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve? I would throw students an example on how to manage a business as a CEO and see which systems they use to control a huge corporation. The

26A Celebrating Failure

My failure actually happened Spring 2019 school semester, I was taking this class called Environmental Biogeochem. When I first signed up, I knew what I was expecting just from the name of the class itself. I told myself I was gonna try my all this semester so I can do well in the class. For each exam I studied by a specific way: I watched the lectures, study the quizzes, and went over my study guide. This wasn't enough though, I wasn't doing well (I was failing) in my exams by using these study tactics. Two weeks before my final exam I thought of a new study tactic that I normally don't use. I re-wrote my study guide, quizzes, and put all of the information on quizlet. After doing this I started going over my quizlet. I realized that I attain information more by writing it once or twice and it's easier to memorize from there. This helped me a lot for my final exam which actually helped me to pass the class with a decent grade! I learned that if you keep doing the same

25A What's Next?

Existing Market.  Step 1: Talk about what you think is what's next in terms of products and services for your venture. I believe what's next in terms of products and services for my venture are new meals, seasonal drinks, and more upgraded applicances in my business. Step 2: Interview three customers who are already part of the market you have identified, and ask them what they believe is next for a venture like yours. Describe to them your business, and simply ask "What should we be doing that we aren't planning to do?" Next, ask them about  your  ideas of what customers might want next.  All three people work in this type of industry and they all mentioned the same things. To keep it cheap, quick, very clean, and healthy. They said to start really working with the customers make more marketing and everything because that will help in the long run. If it's cool and hip, young adults will stay around. I asked them what they think about the loyalty progr

23A Your Venture's Unfair Advantage

A list of resources in my venture: 1. Human Capital Since this will be on a college campus, most employers would be college students working for the money to help their personal or educational needs. Valuable: It is pretty valuable because it helps students Rare: I don't think it's pretty rare because lots of restaurants on college campuses hire students Inimitable: It is not hard to copy by others, unless they're not on a college campus Non-substitutable: There are other resources that can provide the same benefits, such as if they want to work at another restaurant. 2. Cooperation Being able to work with others Valuable: This is very valuable because cooperation is important Rare: This isn't rare because every work place needs to be able to cooperate with each other in order to function Inimitable: Not difficult to copy by others Non-substitutable: There are other resources that can provide the same benefits, but this would provide more benefits such

22A Elevator Pitch No.3

2)  A reflection on the feedback you received from your last pitch.  Describe what stood out to you as important, what feedback surprised you the most, what feedback you think was outright wrong or silly or amazing and inciteful.  I had to be more confindent when I spoke, dress business attire, and had to stand up. I thought these were all amazing and inciteful to know. 3)  What did you change, based on the feedback? Third time's the charm, as they say. I bet you find a few things different from the first time, including: (a) it's almost memorized, (b) you're far more comfortable in front of the camera, and (c) the pitch itself is better. If this is or isn't true for you, please include this in your reflection! I put on business attire, was confident, and spoke much louder this time. I always feel I know much more about where I'm going with my business so my elevator pitch improved when I spoke.

21A Reading Reflection No. 2

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book? So, the book I chose was "How To Fail At Almost Everything And Still Win Big" by Scott Adams. The general theme or argument of this book is you have to keep trying and failing in order to succeed. How to "win big." 2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? This book connecting and enchaned what I was learning in ENT 3003. It talks about how to set up your own schedule with time and space, know how to get to a goal not to just have one, and many more. 3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve? My exercise will involve with getting people out of their comfort zone, to try something new. If they fail, it's okay because you just get back up and keep going until you get it. I can't think of a specific exercise, but that's what it will consist of. Because the trick is to

20A Growing Your Social Capital

1. Domain Expert of my Industry 1) Clive Schlee is the CEO of "Pret a Manager."  C live joined Pret as CEO in 2003. He has over 25 years’ experience in the retail food business with Pret, Itsu and Jardine Matheson, the Hong Kong-based multi-national. 2) The slot I would give this person is domain expert. 3) I typed in Google "top healthy resturants in the united states" and I found an article from "Eat this, Not that!" and it showed me "34 Hottest Healthy Restaurants." Each restaurant was put into seperate categories like "fast service" "Italian" and etc. I haven't contacted this person because he's a multi-billionare that probably won't answer me for a month. 4) They have not done any favor for me other than providing their business information online for me to find them to do this assignment. I expect nothing. 5) Since Schlee is a CEO of one of Englands most famous healthy fast food restaurants, th

19A Idea Napkin No.2

This is from my Idea Napkin No. 1 Post, but now adjusted to reflect the feedback I've received: 1)  You.  Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life? I am Jennifer Ronderos. My talents are thinking outside of the box, maintaining a healthy life style, and gymnastics. My skills and experiences are small, but include: people, cooking, traveling to other countries to see their lifestyle, and mainly personal experiences. My aspirations is to live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. If I were to start this business, I see it playing a role in my life. This business would take over my life because I would be so dedicated into putting the time and effort to deliver its best to the people. 2)  What are you offering to customers?  Describe the product or service (in other words, how you

18A Create a Customer Avatar

Image
In my opinion there are different types of customer avatars: 30-year-old or older women/moms that do yoga in the morning, college girls that think eating healthy once will clear them of their toxins from drinking the night before, fitness men/women in their 20's, vegan women/men, and young women/men wanting to be influencers for these type of foods. 30-year-old or older moms that do yoga in the morning: Image Link The kind of hobbies my customer has is to be fit in the mornings, get cold pressed juice after workouts, take their kids to sport practices, shop, and create art. They usually drive Mercedes Benz or BMW SUV's (colors are either grey, white, or black). TV shows they like to watch are healthy cooking, house tours, or reality TV. Yes, they all have children! Usually, the children are not adopted but there would be a couple here and there. Their favorite books are about inner peace and spiritual or romantic, and their favorite politicians can either be a wide variet

16A What's Your Secret Sauce?

Well, I've always found myself to be the odd ball in the room since I was young. I have good and bad qualities. I've worked on the bad and sometimes slacked off the good. One way that makes me different is that I'm very open-minded. Yes, a lot of people say that they are open-minded, but I believe I am a bit more extreme open-minded. It's something I'm proud of since I was young. When I was younger I used to be extremely shy and wanted to make friends. It was odd to make the first move to talk to someone if you wanted them to be your friend or just play with you at recess. Normally, kids are friends because of their family, group projects, sport teams, or they sit next to each other in class. One day I thought, if I'm having this mindset that it's scary to talk to someone first to be your friend, then others are thinking the same. You think someone is super funny and cool, and you want to be their friend, but you don't know how to approach them without

15A Figuring Out Buyer Behavior

After interviewing multiple people about this subject matter... I eventually came to figuring out buyer behavior. I interviewed 3 people that shared common opinions. Some different and equal, but overall the same mentality. I all asked them since there isnt a close to campus, affordable, quick, and healthy restaurant, what do they do as an alternative? Nearly, all of them mentioned the alternatives that I used previously as cons for not having my business. Interview A mentioned her alternative is to just go out of her way to Vale or Bolay to get food. She usually goes to Vale because of smoothies and acai bowls. She said that price doesn't really matter because it's going on her parents credit card, but also she is paying for the quality and benefits of the food. Which leads to yes, the quality of the product does matter. Interview B had the same thought and actions as Interview A. They also mentioned it feels good to eat these products after a workout or when they're ge

14A Halfway Reflection

1)  Tenaciousness is a competency.  What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course? Like every other college student, I've had my ups and downs. One day I'll be so lazy to do the coursework for this class, but other days I'm productive. Behaviors I've used to keep up with the requirements of this course is to write all my assignments due dates on my laptops 'sticky notes,' my phones calendar, push myself to complete them, and remind myself I need to get an A in this class. I also make sure I follow the syllabus requirements for the word count in my blog posts and commenting on someones. 2)  Tenaciousness is also about attitude.  Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this? A couple of nights ago, I got home a

13A Reading Reflection No. 1

1) You read about an entrepreneur: I read about Elon Musk! What surprised you the most? I already knew a little bit of Elon Musk from past newspaper articles because I've always been fascinated with how his brain works. What surprised me the most was his childhood. I didn't know how he was raised and his families history. It was super interesting to hear where his family came from, how his parents met, and what him and his siblings went through with their father. What about the entrepreneur did you most admire? What I admired the most out of Elon is that he never gives up. It could be the most unrealistic thing in the world and he will still try his hardest to make it realistic. That is pure dedication right there. Also how fast his brain works... he finished  a whole basic computer programming book in 3 days when it normally would've taken someone 6 months. What about the entrepreneur did you  least  admire? What I least admire about Elon Musk is how social

12A Figuring Out Buyer Behavior

1)  Pick a segment.  In class, we have discussed how you might intuit the existence of segments that might exist in your venture's market. For this exercise, you must pick one segment.   I have picked the segment on UF students that are health conscious and see what they do for health restaurants. 2)  Find three people who would fit that segment and arrange to interview them.  These interviews, if conducted properly, should take about 10-15 minutes. Any less, and you won't be able to obtain adequate information.  I am interviewing 3 of my roommates that rarely work out, but are super health-conscious. 3)  Begin with need awareness.  In earlier exercises, you have identified an unmet need and developed a solution. If the person you are talking to does not have the same unmet, then you need to move on. You may not include this as one of your three interviews. If the person you are talking to  does  have the problem, then you're on the right track! For need awareness,
